Homemade Beef Chow Mein

A nostalgic and savory Beef Chow Mein, packed with tender beef and colorful vegetables, perfect for a satisfying evening meal.

  • 8 oz chow mein noodles
  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the noodles and cook according to package directions (about 4-5 minutes). Drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. Sauté the aromatics: Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  3. Cook the beef: Toss in the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned.
  4. Add in the veggies: Incorporate broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots, stirring for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Incorporate noodles and sauces: Add the cooked noodles, soy sauce, and oyster sauce to the wok, mixing well.
  6. Final seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed; add green onions before serving.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Plate the Beef Chow Mein and enjoy hot!

Notes

For an extra kick, add chili paste or red pepper flakes during the stir-fry stage. Use tofu for a vegetarian variant.
