Beef Lo Mein

A delightful stir-fry dish that combines tender beef with soft lo mein noodles and vibrant vegetables, capturing the flavors of a favorite Asian eatery.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles
  • 8 oz beef flank steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • 1 cup bell peppers (mixed colors, sliced)
  • 1 cup carrots (julienned)
  • 4 green onions (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (for stir-frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add your lo mein noodles and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. Slice the Beef: While the noodles are cooking, slice your flank steak against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  3. Prep the Veggies: Slice bell peppers, julienne carrots, and chop green onions.
  4. Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat your wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Cook the sliced beef in a single layer for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  5. Add the Veggies: Once the beef is browned, add the bell peppers and carrots. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Add the Noodles and Sauce: Toss in your cooked lo mein noodles, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Toss in sliced green onions, transfer to a serving platter, and garnish with sesame seeds or chopped cilantro.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasoning with additional soy sauce or sugar for balance. This dish is perfect as a versatile base to add other ingredients like broccoli or snap peas.
