Garlic Parmesan Herb Bread

A cozy, homemade bread infused with garlic, parmesan, and fresh herbs, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley, rosemary, or thyme), chopped

Instructions

  1. Activate your yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Stir in the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped herbs. Slowly add flour mixture, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Shape the bread: Punch down the dough, knead in grated Parmesan, and shape into a loaf or rolls.
  7. Second rise: Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: While bread is rising, preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake to perfection: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  10. Cool and serve: Brush with melted butter, cool for a few minutes, then slice.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, replace butter with olive oil and Parmesan with nutritional yeast.
