Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks

A delightful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, using ground beef for a quick and comforting meal.

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean 80/20)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup provolone or cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by slicing the onion and green bell pepper.
  2. Heat about 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Toss in the sliced onions and green peppers; sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and caramelized.
  4. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Break it up as it cooks for about 7-8 minutes until browned.
  5. Add cheese evenly over the beef mixture and cover the skillet to let it melt for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Assemble the cheesesteaks by loading the beef and veggie mixture onto each hoagie roll.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add extras like hot sauce or pickled jalapeños.
