High Protein Low Calorie Garlic Butter Steak & Creamy Mashed Potatoes

A comforting and nutritious meal prep featuring high-protein steak paired with creamy mashed potatoes, enhanced by rich garlic butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Steak (sirloin or flank)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (for garlic butter sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 lbs Potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 1/2 cup Milk or cream
  • 2 tbsp Butter (for mashed potatoes)
  • Optional: Chives or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and chop the potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a pot and cover with cold water, adding salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Cook the Steak: Season the steak with salt and pepper. In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter and add the steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. In the last minute, add garlic and remaining butter, spooning it over the steak.
  3. Mash the Potatoes: Once fork-tender, drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper, then mash until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Serve It Up: On a plate, scoop mashed potatoes and slice steak against the grain, drizzling garlic butter over the steak. Garnish with herbs if desired.
