Indian Beef Curry

A rich and aromatic Indian Beef Curry that’s perfect for family gatherings or meal prep. This dish is a delightful blend of spices and tender beef, sure to impress everyone.

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or ghee)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder (or garam masala)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) coconut milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef: Heat the vegetable oil (or ghee) in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef chunks in batches and sear until browned for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Remove the beef and set aside. In the same pot, reduce heat to medium, add onions, and cook for 5-7 minutes until soft and golden. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the curry powder and turmeric; cook for about a minute.
  4. Combine the beef back into the pot, followed by the coconut milk and diced tomatoes. Stir well, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with cilantro, over basmati rice or with naan.

Notes

Don’t skip browning the beef for maximum flavor. Feel free to adjust the spices to your liking for a personalized touch.
