A spicy Southern delight that brings the iconic Nashville hot chicken experience to your kitchen with crispy fried chicken and robust flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 sandwich buns
  • Pickles for serving
  • Optional: lettuce and tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken thighs, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  2. Prepare the dredging station: In one bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge the chicken: Remove the marinated chicken and dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture. Shake off excess flour.
  5. Fry the chicken: Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil, frying for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Assemble the sandwich: Place a piece of fried chicken on the bottom bun, top with pickles and optionally lettuce and tomatoes, then close with the top bun.

Notes

Serve with crispy fries or potato salad. For extra spice, drizzle spicy frying oil over the chicken before serving.
