A cozy version of Butter Chicken Biryani filled with aromatic spices, tender chicken, and buttery richness, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless Chicken Thighs
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 2 Onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece Ginger, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed Tomatoes
  • 1.5 cups Basmati Rice
  • 2 tbsp Biryani Masala
  • Fresh Cilantro, chopped
  • Fresh Mint, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, ginger, garlic, and biryani masala. Toss in the chicken thighs until coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large pot, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Add Chicken and Sauce: Add marinated chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Layer the Biryani: Pre-cook rice until 70% done, drain it. Layer half the rice over chicken mixture, then add the remaining rice topped with cilantro and mint.
  5. Steam the Dish: Drizzle heavy cream, cover the pot, and reduce heat to low for 20 minutes.
  6. Serve it Up: Fluff the biryani with a fork and serve warm.
