Sweet Hawaiian rolls are loaded with melty cheese, juicy Italian sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, then baked to golden perfection. 12 Hawaiian rolls
1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
2 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a skillet, heat oil and sauté sausage until browned. Add peppers and onions; cook until soft.
Slice rolls in half horizontally (keep them connected). Place bottom half in the baking dish.
Layer with half the cheese, then sausage-pepper mixture, then the rest of the cheese.
Add the top half of the rolls. Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake 5–7 more minutes until golden.
Slice and serve warm.
