Sausage Egg and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

A comforting breakfast casserole that combines savory sausage, creamy eggs, and melty cheese, perfect for family gatherings or cozy brunches.

  • 1 pound of sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 4 cups of cubed bread
  • 2 cups of shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup of chopped bell pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the sausage, onions, and peppers in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  4. Combine the cooked sausage mixture with cubed bread and shredded cheese, and stir gently.
  5. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the ingredients and mix well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set.
  8. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge overnight. To reheat, let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before baking.
