Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken

Turn a few simple ingredients into a rich, cheesy chicken dinner that’s packed with flavor and family-approved! This upgraded bake features juicy chicken smothered in a herb-spiked sour cream sauce, topped with gooey mozzarella and golden Parmesan.

6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

6 slices mozzarella cheese

1½ cups sour cream

¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese (not powdered)

½ cup additional Parmesan cheese (for topping)

1½ tbsp cornstarch

1½ tsp dried oregano

1½ tsp dried basil

1½ tsp garlic powder

¾ tsp salt

¾ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish.

In a bowl, combine sour cream, ¾ cup Parmesan, cornstarch, and all seasonings.

Arrange chicken breasts in the baking dish and spread the sour cream mixture generously over each.

Top each with a mozzarella slice, then sprinkle with the remaining ½ cup Parmesan.

Bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
