Balsamic Fig and Honey Spread

A delightful blend of sweet figs and tangy balsamic vinegar, perfect for cheese boards and toast.

  • 1 cup dried figs, chopped
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the figs: Chop dried figs into smaller pieces; soak in hot water for 10 minutes if tough.
  2. Simmer the mixture: In a saucepan, combine figs and balsamic vinegar, bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add honey and seasoning: Stir in honey, salt, and black pepper, simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Blend it up: Let cool, then blend until desired consistency.
  5. Finish with olive oil: Drizzle in olive oil while blending, adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Cool and store: Transfer to an airtight container and cool completely before sealing.

Notes

This spread can be served on cheese boards, with toasted bread, or over grilled meats.
