The Best Bruschetta

A delightful Italian classic featuring fresh tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of olive oil on crispy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread
  • 45 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 23 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) and slicing the baguette into ½-inch pieces.
  2. Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. Make the tomato topping by mixing diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, and balsamic vinegar in a bowl; drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Assemble the bruschetta by heaping the tomato mixture onto each toasted slice.
  5. Serve immediately on a platter, optionally garnished with more fresh basil.

Notes

For an extra flavor twist, rub each toasted slice with a garlic clove before adding toppings. Store the tomato mixture separately from the bread to maintain texture.
