Classic Shepherd’s Pie

A comforting and hearty Shepherd’s Pie made with lamb mince and creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for gatherings and cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 500g Lamb Mince
  • 1 large Onion, diced
  • 2 medium Carrots, diced
  • 2 sticks Celery, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Purée
  • 300ml Beef Stock
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • Mashed Potatoes (for topping)
  • 50ml Milk
  • 30g Butter
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Sauté onion, carrots, and celery in a large pan over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Increase the heat, add lamb mince, and brown for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Incorporate tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and cook for a few minutes.
  6. Pour in beef stock and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Prepare the mashed potatoes by boiling diced potatoes in salted water until tender, then mash with butter and milk.
  8. Assemble the lamb mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute lamb with lentils and mushrooms. You can also add grated cheese on top before baking for extra flavor.
