Bruschetta

A delightful Italian dish celebrating fresh tomatoes, basil, and garlic on crispy bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread (such as ciabatta or baguette)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the Italian bread into 1-inch thick pieces and spread them on a baking sheet.
  2. Pop the baking sheet into the oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  3. Combine diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  4. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Scoop the tomato mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.
  6. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the top just before serving.

Notes

Serve on a wooden platter or cutting board, garnished with more basil or grated cheese.
