A Slice of Italian Summer: The Joy of Bruschetta

Bruschetta, the quintessential Italian appetizer, combines the freshness of tomatoes, garlic, and basil atop toasted baguette.

Scale
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced

Instructions

  1. Wash the tomatoes under cold water and dice them into small cubes.
  2. Add minced garlic and chopped basil to the tomatoes.
  3. Mix well and let sit for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and slice the baguette.
  5. Drizzle the baguette slices with olive oil and toast them in the oven for 5–7 minutes.
  6. Assemble by topping the toasted baguette with the tomato mixture.
  7. Serve immediately on a platter.

Notes

Bruschetta is best enjoyed fresh to retain the crunch of the bread. Pair with extra olive oil for dipping.
