Brown Butter Apple Blondies with Cinnamon Glaze

Delicious blondies made with brown butter and fresh apples, topped with a creamy cinnamon glaze—perfect for fall!

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed (110g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 medium apples (about 300g), peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tablespoons (30-45ml) whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden and fragrant.
  2. Mix the brown butter with granulated and brown sugars until shiny and smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well with each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the diced apples gently into the batter.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and milk.
  9. Glaze the cooled blondies and allow to set before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, and consider adding nuts for crunch!
