The Best Patty Melt Ever

A delightful combination of a juicy burger and grilled cheese sandwich, this Patty Melt is classic comfort food that brings warmth and joy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. Ground Beef (80/20 preferred)
  • 4 slices Rye Bread
  • 2 slices Muenster Cheese
  • 2 slices Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 tsp Mustard (divided)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce (divided)
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Pepper
  • 1 small Onion (sliced thin)
  • 1 tsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Dill Pickle Relish
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by slicing onions and setting out cheese.
  2. Caramelize the onions in a skillet with butter over medium heat for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Mix your beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Form the mixture into two patties, slightly larger than the bread.
  5. Cook the patties in a skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side, adding cheese on top to melt.
  6. Prepare the sauce by mixing mayo, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, relish, ketchup, and mustard.
  7. Assemble the Patty Melt with sauce, patty, caramelized onions, and top with another slice of bread.
  8. Grill the sandwich in butter for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve warm.

Notes

Serve with fries or a side salad for a complete meal. Experiment with different cheese and add jalapeños for a spicy kick!
