Homemade Fig Jam

A delightful and easy fig jam recipe that brings sweetness and joy to your breakfast table.

  • 2 pounds fresh figs, washed and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prep the figs: Wash under cold water, pat dry, remove stems, and slice into quarters or eighths.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine sliced figs, sugar, lemon juice, and water. Stir well.
  3. Heat it up: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring frequently.
  4. Cook down the jam: Reduce heat to low and let it cook gently for 30-45 minutes, stirring often.
  5. Check the consistency: Test it on a plate; it should hold its shape.
  6. Jar your jam: Transfer the jam into sterilized jars, seal tightly, and process in a water bath if storing long-term.

Notes

For a spicier variant, add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper while cooking. Enjoy it with bread, cheese, or as a filling for pastries.
