Ingredients
Scale
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
1/2 cup milk (warmed)
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup homemade salted caramel
1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
1 tablespoon milk (for icing)
Instructions
Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Prepare the dough by combining flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Make a well, then add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix into a rough dough.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 12 x 8 inches.
Assemble the rolls by spreading salted caramel over the dough, sprinkling with cinnamon, and rolling it tightly. Cut into 12 slices.
Cover the rolls with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Whisk together powdered sugar and milk for icing, then drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream for an indulgent treat.
