Hamburger Steak Patties

A nostalgic comfort food classic, Hamburger Steak Patties are tender beef patties served with rich gravy. Perfect for any dinner occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Gravy (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix everything together until just combined.
  2. Shape the patties: Divide the beef mixture into even portions and shape them into oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat up the skillet: Add the vegetable oil to a skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to heat until shimmering.
  4. Cook the patties: Gently place the patties in the hot skillet without overcrowding. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side.
  5. Flip and finish: Carefully flip the patties and cook on the other side for another 4-5 minutes until desired doneness.
  6. Gravy time (optional): Use the drippings in the pan to make a quick gravy by adding a tablespoon of flour, whisking together, then slowly adding broth or water.
  7. Rest your patties: Remove the patties from the pan and let them rest for a few minutes.

Notes

Serve over mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the gravy. Consider adding sautéed green beans or roasted carrots as a side.
