Witches’ Fingers Treats for Halloween

A spooktacularly delicious Halloween treat that looks like bony fingers but tastes enchanting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Green or red food coloring
  • Almonds (slivered or whole)
  • Red icing gel or jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Color a small scoop of the dough with food coloring.
  7. Form the colored dough into finger shapes.
  8. Add the almond as the nail at the fingertip.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden.
  10. Ice the base of each almond ‘nail’ with red icing or jam.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter or coconut oil. You can also try nut-free options like pretzel pieces for the nails.
