Classic Bruschetta: Fresh and Crispy

A simple yet delicious Italian starter featuring crisp baguette topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and garlic.

  • 1 large French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1/3 cup high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 large cloves of garlic, peeled and halved
  • 1.5 lbs Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chiffonade
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (additional)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice your baguette into half-inch thick rounds and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Drizzle a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over the baguette slices.
  4. Toast the bread for about 5-7 minutes, turning halfway through.
  5. Combine the diced tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic glaze, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  6. Rub the toasted baguette slices with halved garlic cloves.
  7. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each garlic-rubbed baguette slice.
  8. Drizzle a bit more balsamic glaze and olive oil on top.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Serve fresh for the best taste. Arrange on a platter and top with extra basil for garnish.
