Delightful hand pies filled with seasoned taco meat, perfect for Halloween gatherings or cozy movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrot (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper or baby spinach (optional)
  • 2 pie crusts (defrosted but unbaked)
  • 1/3 cup shredded Mexican cheese
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Salsa (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Add the taco seasoning and stir to combine, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the shredded carrots and chopped vegetables, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  6. Roll out each pie crust on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  7. Cut out circles from the rolled-out pie crust, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  8. Fill each circle with a spoonful of taco filling and cheese.
  9. Fold the dough over the filling, sealing the edges by crimping with a fork.
  10. Brush the tops with whisked egg for a golden color.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  12. Cool slightly before serving with salsa.
