Italian Bruschetta: Authentic, Easy, and Quick

An easy and delightful bruschetta recipe that celebrates fresh ingredients. Perfect for gatherings and casual meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced diagonally
  • 1 clove garlic, halved (for rubbing on bread)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tomatoes by dicing them. Scoop out the seeds to reduce excess liquid if desired.
  2. Mix the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, and chopped basil in a mixing bowl. Add olive oil and balsamic vinegar, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  3. Toast the baguette slices in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Optionally, rub each toasted slice with the halved garlic clove.
  4. Assemble the bruschetta by spooning a generous amount of the tomato mixture onto each toasted baguette slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a flavorful twist, try adding Italian seasoning or Parmesan before toasting the bread. Serve with a small bowl of additional tomato mixture for guests.
