Classic Italian Bruschetta

A vibrant appetizer made with fresh tomatoes, basil, and olive oil on toasted baguette slices.

Ingredients

  • 4 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tomatoes by dicing them and placing them in a bowl with a pinch of salt. Let them sit to draw out their juices.
  2. Mix the chopped basil and minced garlic into the tomatoes.
  3. Dress the mixture with extra virgin olive oil and gently toss. Adjust with more salt or pepper as needed.
  4. Toast the baguette slices at 400°F (200°C) for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the bruschetta by spooning the tomato mixture onto the toasted baguette slices.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious bruschetta!

Notes

Bruschetta is best enjoyed fresh but you can prepare the tomato mixture ahead of time.
