Strawberry Fig Preserves

A delightful combination of fresh strawberries and figs, perfect for spreading on toast or enjoying with cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh Black Mission figs, stemmed and chopped into ½-inch chunks
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped into ½-inch chunks
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by washing and chopping figs and strawberries into ½-inch chunks.
  2. Combine the fruits with lemon juice in a large pot.
  3. Add sugar and stir to mix.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer.
  5. Add vanilla extract and cinnamon, then simmer until thickened.
  6. Can the preserves in sterilized jars.
  7. Seal the jars and store accordingly.

Notes

Store unsealed jars in the fridge for immediate use.
