Classic Bruschetta

A fresh and vibrant appetizer featuring ripe tomatoes, basil, and garlic on toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe Roma or heirloom tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 baguette or sourdough, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the tomatoes: Dice fresh tomatoes, sprinkle with salt, and let them rest for 10 minutes to remove moisture.
  2. Chop the basil: Finely chop fresh basil and save a few leaves for garnish.
  3. Garlic time: Mince the garlic; sauté if you prefer a milder flavor.
  4. Mix the ingredients: Combine tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar in a bowl. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Toast the bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush bread slices with olive oil and bake for 5-7 minutes until golden.
  6. Assemble: Spoon tomato mixture onto toasted bread, drizzling with extra olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  7. Serve & enjoy: Garnish with basil and serve immediately.

Notes

For creative variations, try adding mozzarella, avocado, or olives.
