Hearty Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup Mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, sliced onion, sliced mushrooms, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  4. Sear the patties in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and scrape up any flavorful bits from the skillet.
  6. Return the seared patties to the skillet and sprinkle cheese on top if desired.
  7. Bake uncovered in the oven for about 25-30 minutes.
  8. Check for doneness with a meat thermometer; aim for 160°F (70°C).
  9. Rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a comforting meal.
