Classic Hamburger Hash

A delightful combination of ground beef, tender potatoes, and vibrant vegetables, all cooked in one pan for easy cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 3 cups diced potatoes (about 3 medium potatoes, peeled or unpeeled)
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by washing and dicing your potatoes, onions, and bell pepper. Mince your garlic, and set everything aside in bowls.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil or butter. Season it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Sauté the diced onion and bell pepper in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 5 minutes, then add in the minced garlic.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and stir in the smoked paprika, onion powder, and dried thyme. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Return the browned ground beef to the skillet, mix well, cover, and let it cook on low for about 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  7. Final adjustments: taste and adjust seasonings before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
