Oreo Cinnamon Rolls

A scrumptious twist on classic cinnamon rolls, combining gooey cinnamon goodness with Oreo cookies for a delightful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet of instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine the warm water and milk, followed by the instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s frothy.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In another large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into the dry mix. Knead until a soft dough forms—about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Let it Rise: Place your dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Roll It Out: Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Prepare the Filling: Crush the Oreo cookies and spread them evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  7. Roll It Up: Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  8. Cut the Rolls: Slice the log into 12 evenly spaced pieces. Place them in a greased baking dish.
  9. Second Rise: Let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Make the Frosting: Whip together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Frost and Enjoy: Spread the frosting over each warm roll.
