Slow Cooker Fig Butter

A simple and delightful slow cooker fig butter made with fresh figs, sugar, and a touch of spices, perfect for spreading on toast or pairing with cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds fresh figs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the figs: Give your figs a good rinse under cold water, then pat them dry gently. Remove the stems and cut the figs into quarters.
  2. Combine ingredients in the slow cooker: Toss the chopped figs into your slow cooker. Add the sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Set it and forget it: Cover your slow cooker and set it on low for about 6-8 hours.
  4. Blend to desired consistency: After cooking, blend your fig mixture until you reach your desired smoothness.
  5. Cool and store: Let your fig butter cool before transferring it to jars.

Notes

For added texture, reserve a few fig pieces to stir in later. This gives your butter a delightful rustic feel. Serve on crusty bread, cheese platters, or in yogurt.
