DIY Halloween Treats

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Royal Icing (made from egg whites and powdered sugar)
  • Food coloring (orange, black, green)
  • Halloween-themed sprinkles
  • Candy corn
  • Large marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mix to form a soft dough.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough and cut out shapes.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Prepare the royal icing while cookies cool.
  10. Color the icing with food coloring.
  11. Decorate the cookies with icing and sprinkles.
  12. Dip marshmallows in melted chocolate for ghost treats.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ingredients for dietary preferences. Use gluten-free flour to make the cookies gluten-free.
