  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Red icing (for decorating)
  • Chocolate chips (for eyes and buttons)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a medium bowl: whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and both extracts, beating until fully combined.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture gradually, mixing on low speed.
  6. Shape the dough into doll shapes with your hands.
  7. Prepare a parchment-lined baking sheet with spaced-out cookies.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden around the edges.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then move to a wire rack.
  10. Decorate the cookies with red icing and chocolate chips as eyes and buttons.

Notes

Chilling the dough can help prevent cookies from spreading too much while baking.
