Homemade Fig Preserves

Ingredients

  • Fresh Figs (about 2 pounds)
  • Sugar (2 cups)
  • Lemon Juice (2 tablespoons)
  • Water (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the figs by rinsing them under cold water and slicing them into quarters.
  2. Combine the sliced figs, sugar, lemon juice, and water in a large pot and let it sit for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Check the preserves for consistency after 30-40 minutes using a chilled plate.
  5. Jar the preserves into sterilized jars, leaving half an inch of space at the top.
  6. Process in a water bath for 10-15 minutes if storing for long-term use (optional).
