Fig and Raspberry Jam

A nostalgic homemade jam combining sweet figs and tangy raspberries, capturing the essence of cherished childhood memories.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Figs (2 cups, chopped)
  • Fresh Raspberries (2 cups)
  • Granulated Sugar (2 cups)
  • Lemon Juice (1/4 cup)
  • Pectin (1 package)

Instructions

  1. Prep your fruit: Wash the figs and raspberries thoroughly. Chop the figs into small pieces and place them in a large pot along with the raspberries.
  2. Mix in the sugar and lemon juice: Stir the sugar and lemon juice into the pot. Allow the fruit to macerate for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Cook the mixture: Place the pot over medium heat and bring it to a low boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add the pectin: After the mixture has thickened, add the pectin according to the package instructions and stir well.
  5. Jar and seal: Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
  6. Cool and store: Allow the jars to cool completely at room temperature and check the seals before storage.

Notes

For a smoother jam, consider blending the fruits. You can also experiment with spices or sweeteners to create a flavor unique to you.
