Ingredients

  • Fresh Figs (2 pounds)
  • Granulated Sugar (1 cup)
  • Fresh Lemon Juice (1/4 cup)
  • Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
  • Ginger (1/2 teaspoon, optional)
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • Water (1/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Prep your figs: wash, pat dry, remove stems, and cut in half.
  2. Combine ingredients in the crockpot: add figs, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and water; stir gently.
  3. Set the temperature: cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  4. Blend it up: mash with a fork or potato masher, or blend for a smoother texture.
  5. Taste and adjust: modify the sweetness or spice to your liking.
  6. Cool and store: transfer to sterilized jars while warm, let cool, and refrigerate.
